Just a few questions we are often asked

At Masons we understand how important finding the right childcare for your family can be. We also understand this can cause concern for many parents.  We want to help parents as much as possible so here

are a selection of questions we are asked; but please do talk to us about
your child’s and your needs.

How many children are allowed in the setting at one time?
Each setting is individual and we work to Ofsted requirements, ours is set at 30 children per 3 hour session.

What are your staff ratios?
2-3 years 1:4
3+ years 1:8

Do you mix the age groups?
We mix the age groups at Masons as we feel this creates a family environment within our setting.  In doing, so this helps to develop good social skills across our age groups, as well as providing good interaction and learning how to mix with other children. This also allows older and younger siblings to mix freely within our setting.

We recognise that all children develop individually and at their own pace, by mixing the age groups we feel that children are able to experience learning through play at their own level regardless of age. This allows for our younger children to learn from their older peers whilst also being supported with their learning.

Do children have to be ‘dry’ before they start Masons?
We are happy to accept children in nappies and pull-ups. We do ask parents to supply  the changing equipment the child needs.

We are also happy to support parents when the time comes to toilet train their children.

What is your Settling in Policy?
We understand all children will settle differently. We are more than happy to work with parents to ensure a smooth and happy transition into Preschool.

How can I use my 15 hours?
You can use your 15 hours either every morning, 9am-12pm, every afternoon, 12pm-3pm. You could choose to take 2 full days, 9am-3pm (you provide a packed lunch with either an additional morning or afternoon session for example.
